Men's League
On Aug. 31, the name of the game for the Men’s Day golf event was Quota Points, played on the back nine.  The back nine boasts 3 par 5 holes including the dangerous seventeenth with all kinds of trouble waiting to snag your ball and cause havoc to your score.  But Derryl Urstadt managed to avoid most of the problem areas as he accumulated 16 quota points throughout the nine holes, and won First place in the A-flight.  Gerry Call also had a decent round as he earned 13 quota points and took Second place.  Larry Curtis and Lou Bezaire were tied for Third place in the flight with 12 points.

In the B-flight, Hugh Morrison is back, scoring 15 quota points and winning First place in the flight.  Mike Cleary took Second place with 12 points, followed by Jim Norwood in Third spot with 11 points.  In the C-flight, Dave Ezechiels earned 12 quota points on the back nine and won First Place in the flight, followed by Fabian Libbus with 8 points and Rick Robinson with 4 points.

Larry Curtis won the Closest to the Pin competition on the thirteenth hole and Barrie Robson made the Longest Putt on #15.

The Men’s Match Play event has finished up and we are happy to congratulate Rocky Weller, who won the final match in a very close game.

Senior Men’s Golf News
So what else is new?  More rain on Senior Men’s Day, and the event had to be cut to the front nine holes.  No problem for those who came out in the afternoon, but if you played in the morning you had better have had your umbrella and golf gloves with you, as it was wet.  It was also decided to score the players’ efforts on gross scores only this week.

Derryl Urstadt had a fine front nine, carding a 39 on the front nine and winning First Low Gross in the A-flight.  Phil Hunt and John Hale were third only one stroke back and shared Second Low Gross with identical scores of 40, followed by Mike Pitzen in fourth spot with a 41.  In the B-flight, Peter Welford took First Low Gross honours with a round of 44, followed by Gord Moore who was only 1 stroke back with a 45.  Rick Robinson and Bert Tripp shared Low Gross with scores of 47.

Rick Robinson won the Closest to the Pin contest on the fifth hole and Derryl Urstadt sunk the Longest Putt on #7.
