Drew Nesbitt of Shanty Bay Golf Club fired a 67 (-5) at Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club near Barrie to claim his first victory in nearly two years on the Great Lakes Tour.
He earned $1,125 for the win.
The one-shot victory over Brendan Leonard of Cambridge, Ont. was not without drama as Nesbitt hit his drive on #18 into the trees.
Fortunately, it kicked out and he was able to scramble for a par, culminated by a tricky putt from five feet.
“I hit it very well today but putted even better. I got a little lucky on 18 and Brendan was putting some good pressure on me, so I was happy to make that slider for par,” he said in a story posted on OntarioGolfNews.com
For the win Nesbitt received 500 points in the season-long GLT Order of Merit. Brendan Leonard maintains his lead on the Order of Merit and has a 348 point cushion over Nesbitt who moves into second place.
