King top golfer from region


G.W. King of The Georgian Bay Club was the top pro from the BruceGreySimcoe region at the PGA Championship of Canada.

He fired rounds of 70-70-68-67 to finish tied for 17th at the event, which was held Aug. 4-7
in Bromont, Quebec.

Branson Ferrier of Vespra Hills Golf Club near Barrie shot 71-73-66-69 to tie for 30th while Terry O’Brien of Cedar Links Golf Centre in Barrie carded rounds of 75-71-71-69 and was 52nd.

The winner was Riley Fleming of Lynx Ridge Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta who shot 66-63-68-66 (-25 total).

Gary Jeffrey of Collingwood Golf Services competed in the Seniors Division, shooting 77-77-75 and finishing 35th in the 54-hole event.

The winner of the Seniors division was Brantford, Ontario’s Dennis Hendershott (71-69-64).
