The Reigning Eagles take 1st place in Week 8
A good captain leads by example, right?  Well, that’s just what Captain Lloyd Stewart did for his team!  Lloyd accumulated 42 points on Monday and helped his team get to the 232 number that won The Eagles the week.  The team also had contributions from; Lefty Matheson, Bill Burlington, Bob Nicol, Steve McCrae and George Clifford.  Each member of the team, including UBs, will add $6.45 to their credit book.

Men’s League
July 31

Hooray for the Roughneckers, this week’s winners!  Roughneckers (339) cruised to an easy win over the sporadically successful Birdie Boyz (351) eclipsing this week's nearest rival the desultory Weapons of Grass Destruction (341).

The Steady Eddys (275) versus Weapons of Grass Destruction (269) continue to fight it out for leadership in the Season Standings. Hey!  Wipe those smug expressions from your faces. Remember that the Playoffs are coming with huge bias for late success. Be warned, your lead can be wiped  out in one week.

Phil Carleton and Chad Currie shared Low Gross honours with matching 34s. A slew of good golfers were tied for third with 36: Michael Todd, Bill Ottewell, Brent Keeling and Chase Amyot.

There's nothing 'rough' about'  Roughnecker Dennis Yurkiw's Low Net 30.  At a not so 'rough' guess I would say his Low Net 30 won the week for the Roughneckers. Dennis shot a personal season's low gross best to make this happen. One stroke back at 31, the following deserve honourable mention: Roy Clements, Lloyd Stewart and Geoff Barton.

THE PINS. ( $77) Hole 1: Greg Millman (21'6"). Hole 2: Jason Traynor (4'6"). Hole 3: John Gibson (28'11"). Hole 4: Bert Leeder (17'). Hole 5: Adam Lemaitre (23'3". Hole 6: Keg Richard Graham. Hole 8: John Cho (2').

50/50 Draw Winner: Ron Glenn wins $99

It's hard to believe but it's true: Jim Wison has now won the 50/50 THREE TIMES in  10 weekly draws.

Weapons of Grass Destruction (339) make it a convincing three weeks in a row with a runaway win versus the captainless Roughneckers (357). Old Man Amyot did his best to fill the gap with a 36. The Steady Eddys (347) and Birdie Boyz (351) won their matches but never looked like challenging WGD.

The Steady Eddys (254) remain the leaders in the Season Standings with Birdie Boys (240) in second place and the surging WGD (238) locking down third.

Phil Carleton (32) had quite a night. Phil, coming out of a relative seasonal slump, is this week's Low Gross shooter. Phil might also like me to add that his Gross 32 allowed him to Beat the Pro Michael Todd (35), as did Andrew Baines' (34).  Phil also shares Low Net honours (31) with James McGregor and Will Lewis.

PINS: ($77) Hole #10 Chase Amyot 11' 10" Hole 12 Steve Irving 2' 2". Hole 14 Andrew Warwick 7' 9".  Hole 15 Jim Burlington 28' 1". Hole 16 Keg  Andy Mckee.  Hole 17 Bill Douglas 6'3". Hole 18 Jim Mc Meekin and Andy Barfoot 21' 8".

50/50 Draw: Jim Wilson wins $100

In the C-flight, Mike Cleary won First Low Gross with a 43 while Fabian Libbus took First Low Net with a net 34.  In the D-flight, Dave Ezechiels won First Low Gross with a score of 43 while Bill Thomson won First Low Net with a net 34.  Larry Curtis sunk the Longest Putt on the 7th hole and Barry Dicks was Closest to the Hole on #5.

In the B-flight, for players with handicaps between 19 and 25, Ron Wilson and Scott Powell tied for First Low Gross with scores of 91.  Fabian Libbus took First Low Net with a net 71, followed by Peter Welford with a net 73.  In the C-flight, for players with handicaps between 26 and 37, Mike Cleary took First Low Gross with a fine round of 88.  Bill Streeter won Second Low Gross with a round of 102.  Kent Bergstrom took First Low Net with a net 69, followed by John Falkingham with a net score of 75.
