Nesbitt misses cut

Drew Nesbitt from Shanty Bay Golf Club near Barrie fired a second-round 75 and missed the cut by three strokes at the Canadian Open.

His opening round 66 (-4) at Hamilton Golf and Country Club had him in a tie for 15th but his +5 round today left him with a +1 total and the cut was at -2.

Also missing the cut were Brantford’s David Hearn, who played his junior golf at Pike Lake Golf Centre near Mount Forest, and Listowel’s Corey Conners, who played some of his junior golf at BlackHorse Golf course near Kincardine.

Hearn shot the same score as Nesbitt (66-75) and Conners went 70-69 to finish at -1.

Only 6 of 26 Canadians in the field made the cut:
T-2nd Nick Taylor (64-65)
6th Adam Hadwin (65-66)
7th Mackenzie Hughes (66-66)
7th Ben Silverman (71-61)
T-33rd Richard Jung (67-69)
T-55 Roger Sloan (68-70)

There is two-way tie for first between Americans Scott Brown (65-63) and Matt Kuchar (65-63).

Play resumes tomorrow morning.
