McLean wins at Cobble Beach

Alan McLean of Highland Country Club in London, Ontario shot an even-par 72 and won in a one-hole playoff to claim the Cobble Beach Pro-Am yesterday.

He defeated Matthew Peavoy of Scarborough Golf Club with a birdie on the par 5 18th hole.

He earned $3,200 with the victory.

McLean, who has played on the European Tour and the former Nationwide Tour (now the Web.com tour), won the first two Great Lakes Tour events ever held at Cobble Beach.

In his first victory, in September 2008, he shot 67, which was a competitive course record at the time.   

The top pros from the BruceGreySimcoe region were Stephen Bardswick of Cobble Beach, Terry O’Brien of Cedar Links Golf Centre in Barrie and Thomas Keddy of OslerBrook Golf and Country near Collingwood.

They shot 73 and tied for 3rd.

The top team included pro Matthew Peavoy, Eric Peavoy, Chris Peavoy and Mark Hewson.

Finishing second was the team of Galt Golf and CC pro Victor Ciesielski, Dean Weber, Jeff Brick and John Carrick.

You might remember Ciesielski as he contended for three days during the 2006 Canadian Open.
