New AVX ball solves ball flight issues

Thank you Titleist!

For many years I’ve struggled with ball flight issues.

My specific problem is I hit it too high and have too much spin on the ball.

The result is a loss of distance. Many times I’ve watched in dismay as my drive goes skyward then stops dead or actually spins back when it lands.

So when Titleist introduced a new ball this year that the company said would lower trajectory, I was very interested.

I picked up a sleeve of the AVX balls for a test drive and the results were very encouraging.

It was just a nine-hole experiment but I was consistently hitting the ball lower and getting more distance.

Then Father’s Day came along and, after dropping some major hints, I was presented with a dozen of the new balls.

What followed was another 9-hole experiment with even more spectacular results.

I was getting at least an extra 15 to 20 yards on my drives, which makes sense because suddenly I was getting some roll.

I don’t pretend to understand the engineering that can change trajectory, but I’m thrilled that Titleist has been able to do this.

The company says the ball has been engineered to be the lowest flying, lowest spinning and softest feeling high-performance golf ball in the Titleist line.

And after my 18-hole experiment, I’m definitely a believer.

They have saved me the time and money on lessons to fix my swing so I don’t even mind paying the $60-plus price for a dozen.

Now, if they could just develop hazard-avoidance technology I would be all set.
